On this week's show, we spend time talking about our new niche websites that we've decided on during the Niche Website Training webinar series. Russell will be sharing his thought process and research process for coming up with his new site topic - slow cookers. I'll be sharing my topic as well. It's not a product review site like Russell's, but one that based on the search numbers and competition using Market Samurai, could develop into a nice stream of income on the side. Both of the niches we've selected are evergreen, meaning that these are topics that people should still be searching for online 10 years from now. We'll be keeping everyone posted on our progress as we develop these sites. We'll also be tackling some more questions on the show today. We'll be sharing our opinions on the following: Why we always recommend WordPress over Dreamweaver & other website builders. The best affordable desktop PC for editing short videos for YouTube Where to find traffic stats on Hostgator and more! |

This week on our mid-week segment I spend some time talking about a fantastic book I've started reading called Switch: How to Change Things When Change is Hard by Chip & Dan Heath authors of the bestselling book, Made to Stick. In particular, one of the sections that really caught my attention was in chapter 3 where they talk about the problem of indecision. In an age where we are constantly bombarded every type of media under the sun, let's face it - it's hard for us to make firm decisions. When given a gazillion options, people naturally take the path of least resistance, and do nothing. Consider this when it comes to starting an online business. You get ready to commit yourself to a goal of creating passive income and then what happens? Well, if you're like me early on when I first began, you subscribe to every e-newsletter on the planet with hopes of getting some cool new ideas right? But what happens? You end up getting overloaded with so many ideas that your brain starts to short circuit. You begin to realize you can't do it all. You're just a finite human being with a limited amount of time, so you have to pick what works for you and unplug from all of the other messages out there telling you to "do it this way" or "do it that way". If you're one of those people that's overwhelmed with all of the messages about how to start an online business, then I hope you'll consider unsubscribing from about 99% of them. Decide what you want to do, and pick one strategy. If you've been a listener to our show for a long time, you know Russell and I don't sell hype. We don't promote anything that promises get rich quick. Instead, we use a simple formula for generating passive income online and we'll be sharing these lessons for free on our upcoming Niche Website Training Webinar Tuesday September 20th at 8:00pm EST. his week we answer questions about site monetization, embedding flash video and finding a good source for quality voice-over talent for your audio podcasts or information products. Jeff, one of our listeners if having trouble monetizing his niche website on electric guitars. So far he has plenty of good page content but he's not generating much revenue from it. Jeff's situation is certainly not unique. Often times people spend so much time and effort building their content, they neglect the important part of creating multiple streams of revenue from it. In Jeff's case, he's focused primarily on Google adsense for his revenue and not looking in other directions (that provide larger chunks of profit) like creating his own line of information products (videos, ebooks, etc). In this week's show Russell and I will share some tips for boosting his income through product creation, and other affiliates like Amazon and Clickbank. If you're like Jeff, who's running into difficulty monetizing your website or need help getting started creating an income generating niche website, be sure to join our free webinar, Building a Profitable Niche Website from A-Z on Tuesday September 20th at 8:00 pm EST. This week, Russell and I take some time to answer questions on the show. Kevin emailed this past week about a good web hosting plan for his website. He's been told by his current host provider that he's using way too much of their system resources and wants to find a economical alternative. We'll be tackling this question for Kevin as well as some other questions like: Is Instant Article Wizard a good tool to use for article marketing? What are the right Camtasia studio settings for creating videos for DVD and YouTube at the same time? Is GoTo Training the right choice for creating and recording webinars? In addition, we're announcing our newest upcoming free training webinar on creating a passive income niche site. We've been wanting to offer this training again since we did our last 16 Week Online Challenge and had such a great response.
